# History filter rules

Use **filter / exclude rules** so some copies **never enter** clip history—privacy and noise control.

## What to do

- Open **Settings** and look for clip/history sections such as exclude/ignore (wording varies by release). For a map of settings pages, see [Settings overview](/advanced/settings).  
- After a change, run a **minimal copy test** and confirm whether history behaves as expected.

## Validate

Copy a test string; when a rule should ignore, confirm **no** new row appears.
