# Quick Input Search Bar

The Quick Input Search Bar is the high-frequency entry point for inserting history items and common snippets into the current input field. Older docs or discussions may say “Quick Input” or QuickBar—navigation uses this title.

> [!INFO] Availability
> The Quick Input search bar is available on **Android** today; Windows/macOS versions are planned. On **iOS/iPadOS**, use the Quick Input keyboard instead; on **Windows/macOS**, use the Quick Input window. See the [Quick Input overview](/features/quick-input/overview) to pick the right one for your platform.

## Best-fit scenarios

- Chat, ticket, and email replies with reusable text.
- Fast insertion without switching away from the current app.
- Combined usage with aliases and pinned clips.

## Workflow

:::steps
:::step{title="Bring up the search bar"}

Activate the Quick Input service (or tap the Quick Settings Tile in your notification drawer, or tap the screen's Floating Bubble) so the search bar floats over your current app.

:::
:::step{title="Search or filter target content"}

Type keywords or pick a recent entry.

:::
:::step{title="Confirm and insert"}

Press Enter to insert into the current input field.

## Common issues

:::accordion
:::item{label="Why doesn't the search bar appear?"}

Confirm the Octoclip Quick Input service is enabled in Android settings (which may appear as "Octoclip Virtual Keyboard" under your system input methods & keyboards), and that the "Display over other apps" (Draw over other apps) permission is granted.

:::
:::item{label="Why is expected content missing?"}

Verify it exists in clip history and is not excluded by filters.
