Nearby Sync
Nearby Sync transfers clips directly between devices on the same local network, without cloud relay.
Best-fit scenarios
- Copy on desktop and paste on phone immediately.
- Frequent device-to-device transfer on the same office/home network.
- Local-only transfer requirements without cloud storage.
Setup and usage
1
Enable Nearby Sync on both devices
Make sure both devices have Octoclip installed and Nearby Sync turned on.
2
Discover and pair devices
Find the target device in the nearby list and confirm pairing.
3
Send a test clip
Copy text on device A and verify it appears in device B history.
Requirements
- Both devices are on the same LAN.
- Local network permission is granted.
- Firewall rules allow local communication.
WARNING
If discovery works but transfer fails, check firewall rules and network isolation (for example, guest Wi-Fi).
Privacy and security
- Data stays on the local network path.
- Transfer channels are encrypted to reduce interception risk.
- You can unpair, hide your device, or disable Nearby Sync anytime.
